“Will be written in golden letters…”: Dilip Jaiswal ahead of Patna Metro’s first phase inauguration

Patna, Bihar – On October 6, Bihar’s Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will open the first section of the Patna Metro, linking the city’s main bus stand (ISBT) to Bhootnath. The new rail line is a major step toward easing traffic and boosting the city’s transport connectivity.
BJP State President Dilip Jaiswal welcomed the opening, saying it will be a historic moment for Patna. “This day will go down in the city’s history as a milestone,” he told . “For the first time, people in Bihar will have a metro rail. It will help cut traffic, improve the environment and bring a great benefit to the city.”
Jaiswal also sneered at opposition leaders, saying they have not mentioned any development plans before the assembly elections. “The NDA government is doing everything the public needs, while the opposition stays silent,” he added.
JD(U) leader Rajiv Ranjan Prasad echoed the praise. “The long wait for a city metro is ending. This will relieve traffic and is a big step under CM Nitish Kumar’s leadership,” he said. He also said the project will help realize Patna’s dream of a modern rapid‑transit system.
The Patna Metro was first laid out in February 2019 when Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone. The overall cost is estimated at ₹13,365 crore. The city’s metro will have two corridors – Danapur to Mithapur and Patna Railway Station to the new ISBT – with the first phase running from ISBT to Bhootnath.
