Jaipur, Dec 9 (LatestNewsX) – Rajasthan is preparing for a colder spell as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has declared a yellow warning for cold‑wave conditions across five districts: Sikar, Churu, Jhunjhunu, Didwana‑Kuchaman, and Nagaur.
Heavy cold has already set in across the state, and the weather bureau cautions that the next 48 hours could bring an even steeper temperature drop. Over the past day, Fatehpur cooled to 3.7 °C, making it one of the chilliest points in eastern Rajasthan, while Nagaur recorded 4.3 °C further west.
IMD officials noted that a recent cloud cover over Shekhawati has slightly eased the sting of icy winds, but this respite is only fleeting. With clearer skies expected from December 10 onwards, the cold wave should intensify, driving minimum temperatures even lower in the alert zones.
Between December 10 and 14, Rajasthan can anticipate clear skies, dry conditions, and sharp morning and night freezes, even if the afternoons bring warm sunshine. Monday morning saw light fog drape Sikar, with biting winds making the early hours feel brutally cold. A burst of bright sunshine offered brief relief, yet the IMD reminds residents that the chill is far from over. Minimums on the 10th and 11th are likely to drop further.
In the Hadoti region, weather swung between warm daylight and cold night air on Monday. Meteorologists predict that this pattern will persist throughout the week, with minor temperature swings but no significant thaw.
As Rajasthan heads into colder weather, the Health Department urges caution, particularly for children, the elderly, and people with chronic conditions. Officials advise layering up during mornings and evenings, and taking preventive measures against seasonal illnesses that flare up with shifting temperatures.
