Yogi govt highlights full-cycle support model for women; schemes focus on security, welfare

Lucknow, Nov 30 (LatestNewsX) — Uttar Pradesh’s government has announced a bundle of welfare plans designed to fortify women’s economic, social and legal wellbeing, saying the administration under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath intends “to extend support from birth to old age”.
An official release explained that the state has set up an integrated system of schemes aimed at every stage of a girl’s life: upbringing, nutrition, schooling, financial independence and social security. The 2025 state budget includes new allocations that underscore a renewed drive toward girl‑child welfare, marriage assistance and support for the elderly, signalling a persistent focus on women‑centred programmes.
“The government has put in place comprehensive policy reforms to provide economic, social, and legal security to women from birth till old age…This inclusive framework covers protection and support from a girl child’s birth to nutrition, economic independence, property ownership, and old age,” the statement read.
A key highlight is the Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana, which offers money at critical milestones—from birth through graduation—to help families cover expenses. The note added: “With government schemes reaching all sections of society in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s government is ensuring the holistic development of all. In this regard, the Chief Minister’s Kanya Sumangala Yojana, specifically for girls, has been extremely effective, providing financial support for their education and upbringing, providing relief to millions of families.”
Officials said the initiative has lightened the financial load for many low‑income households and spurred higher enrolment and retention rates for girls in schools. The government also mentioned the Mass Marriage Scheme, which lends assistance to poorer families during a daughter’s wedding, reinforcing the pledge that “no family faces financial distress due to the birth or marriage of a girl child.” The broad reach of these schemes, they noted, has deepened social and economic inclusion across the state.
To boost women’s property ownership, the administration highlighted a 1 % reduction in stamp duty for registrations up to Rs 1 crore, which is aimed at encouraging more women to acquire land and homes. “Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s government has also prioritised property ownership to strengthen women economically…By offering a 1 % stamp duty exemption on property registration in women’s names, the state significantly reduces transaction costs for properties up to Rs 1 crore. This provision not only encourages women to become property owners but also provides them with financial security and social respect. The Yogi government believes that when women are financially independent, families and society become stronger together,” the statement added.
The state also expanded coverage for old‑age and disability pensions, ensuring monthly financial support for older women. These benefits aim to guarantee that women “do not feel insecure or neglected at any stage of life”.
Presenting these programmes as part of a continuous support system, the government claims Uttar Pradesh is building an ecosystem where women can access protection, opportunities, and dignity throughout their lives. This strategy, they say, strengthens families and communities and positions the state as a leader in women‑centred policy reforms.
