Youth must lead India’s national security vision: Kiren Rijiju

New Delhi – On National Unity Day, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju spoke to the Young Leaders Forum 2025 at the Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi. He urged India’s youth to help build a secure, self‑reliant nation.

The forum, organised by the Indian Army with the Centre for Land Warfare Studies, carried the theme “Veer Yuva: Empowering Youth for India’s National Security and Development.” The gathering drew young leaders, NCC cadets, innovators and defence personnel from all over the country. It also served as a launch pad for the upcoming Chanakya Defence Dialogue 2025.

Rijiju stood beside Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi and MP Tejasvi Surya. He said that the country’s rising economy – growing faster than 7 percent – shows India’s resilience and potential. He linked this progress to the Prime Minister’s “Viksit Bharat @2047” vision and stressed that the youth must be disciplined, patriotic and physically fit, just like the armed forces.

“The old saying was true – our demographic dividend can be a strength or a burden,” Rijiju warned. He paid tribute to India’s first Home Minister, Vallabhbhai Patel, and Major Bob Khathing, urging the young to honour their legacy.

General Dwivedi echoed this message, reminding participants that modern warfare changes fast. He urged the youth to master new technologies and develop intellectual readiness to protect India’s future.

The forum highlighted that the nation’s next wave of leaders will act as both architects and defenders of India’s destiny.
