CM Rekha Gupta launches country’s first hi-tech power cable repair van in Delhi

Delhi CM Launches First-of-Its-Kind Hotline Maintenance Van for Power Repairs

In a big boost for Delhi residents, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta kicked off the city’s first hotline maintenance van on Saturday. This hi-tech vehicle will fix live electricity cables without cutting power to nearby homes and shops, putting an end to those annoying outages during repairs.

Gupta unveiled the pilot project in the Shalimar Bagh Assembly constituency, announcing that similar vans will soon roll out across all Delhi constituencies. "This is a game-changer—it’s the first time in India that such a van is hitting the roads right here in our city," she said excitedly.

The van, which cost Rs 1.5 crore, is a special gift from the Power Department to Shalimar Bagh locals. Gupta emphasized how it will make life easier by avoiding forced power cuts for maintenance. "We want every neighborhood in Delhi to enjoy this facility and skip the hassle of unexpected blackouts," she added.

Gupta didn’t stop there—she shared updates on other exciting developments in Shalimar Bagh and across Delhi. The area is getting new street lights, and the city plans to install over 44,000 more lights overall to ramp up safety and illumination.

Work is also starting on underground cabling from Shalimar Bagh Khosla Grid to Netaji Subhash Place Circuit, promising smoother power supply. Plus, the central government is building a new road near Munak Canal at a whopping Rs 5,000 crore cost. A detailed project report is in the works, and they’ll even add a fresh Chhath Ghat along the canal for community celebrations.

On a heartfelt note, Gupta mentioned financial aid for families affected by a recent Munak Canal accident. "The government is stepping up with strong measures for canal maintenance, barricading, and cleaning," she posted on X.

In Haiderpur, approvals are in for a new higher secondary school and community building. Over in CA Block, teams have begun installing an online water booster pump, rebuilding the water tank, and setting up a new tubewell. A yoga shelter is coming up right in the area, along with a fun play area and play station for kids.

Gupta highlighted her government’s crackdown on illegal encroachments, freeing up 12,000 square yards near Sheesh Mahal Park. "For 30 years, I’ve served you like family. Shalimar Bagh’s growth is my top priority, and as your daughter, I’ll always be here fighting for you," she promised.

MP Praveen Khandelwal and Delhi Power Minister Ashish Sood joined the launch, showing full support for these power infrastructure and urban development initiatives in Delhi.
