Chandigarh, Dec 9 – LatestNewsX – BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh called for a CBI probe into alleged financial corruption inside the Congress. He cited Navjot Kaur Sidhu’s claim that former Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Randhawa sold Congress assembly tickets in Rajasthan and urged that such accusations be examined because they suggest deep financial wrongdoing by the Gandhi family. With members of that family already on bail in a corruption case, Chugh insisted Sidhu’s allegations merit a thorough investigation. He also flagged a fresh corruption scandal in Punjab involving protected forest and government land along the Shivalik range. Chugh asked why the Congress leadership suspended Sidhu just as she highlighted a major environmental and land‑grabbing controversy that directly involves powerful political interests. She alleged that thousands of acres of Shivalik foothill land—protected under the Punjab Land Preservation Act and forest regulations—have been illegally occupied by VVIPs with no legal registry. Chugh warned that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann appears to be moving to legalise these holdings, effectively legitimising environmental crime. The Shivalik region is ecologically fragile and stringently protected, so any attempt to regularise unauthorised forest land must be scrutinised at the highest level. He urged a comprehensive CBI inquiry into all Shivalik land encroachment and regularisation, insisting that the people of Punjab deserve full transparency on which VVIPs have taken protected land.
