In a lively match at Bellerive Oval in Hobart, Australia built a solid 186 / 6 in 20 overs, powered by a 74‑run knock from Tim David and a 64‑run contribution from Marcus Stoinis.

David set the tone early. He blasted ten fours and five sixes in just 38 balls, smashing Arshdeep Singh and Jasprit Bumrah for boundaries. His hardest hit—an 129‑meter six—shattered the roof of the stadium.

Stoinis picked up the pace after David had opened the innings for Australia. He hit eight fours and two sixes in 39 balls, keeping the score rising quickly. Together, the pair made Australia’s total look comfortable.

On the Indian side, Arshdeep Singh was the top wicket‑taker with figures of 3‑35, while Varun Chakaravarthy claimed 2‑33. Arshdeep and Bumrah gave an impressive burst of yorkers in the final two overs, handing Australia only 16 runs. The Indians struggled to generate consistent run flow, especially after losing key wickets.

Australia’s innings began with Travis Head taking four off the very first ball, but he soon fired a short drive to mid‑off. Head’s cooperation from the start set the stage for David’s attacking play. David’s strong, lofting shots against the Indian bowlers were opened by a drop at point that let him swing the ball for extra run-scoring opportunities.

Meanwhile, Indian bowlers tried to break the partnership by targeting the crucial Australian batsmen. Chakaravarthy, after removing Marcus Stoinis, later dismissed Joel Garner and Mitchell Owen with successive, quick strikes. In response, Australian batsmen routed the bowlers for two sixes off the World No. 1 bowler.

Later in the innings, Stoinis joined the boundary spree, pulling or flicking sixes off Shivam Dube. Although Stoinis edged a catch in the final over, Australia still pushed beyond 180 runs thanks to Matthew Short’s support.

When the score slipped below 150, the Australian pair strengthened it further. Stoinis and Short hit three boundaries each, and a controversial caught by substitute Rinku Singh was overturned when the video review revealed the ball touched the ground.

After a well‑executed bowling spell, India chased a target of 187. Stoinis and Short managed to cross 180, but the win went to Australia as they control the game.
