IGPL Tour: Fresh from an international win, Kochhar to tee up in Mumbai

Karandeep Kochhar, fresh off a win in Egypt, heads back to the Indian Golf Premier League (IGPL) for the IGPL Invitational in Mumbai. The tournament is moving to the western part of India, and this will be the seventh stop after six events across the country. The match‑play will take place at the historic Bombay Presidency Golf Club (BPGC).

The field is stacked with recent champions. Pukhraj Singh Gill came in from Jamshedpur, where he just won his first professional title. Aman Raj, who took titles in Jaipur and Kolkata, will also be in the mix. Kapil Kumar, a winner in Pune, adds to the competition, while other names such as Sachin Baisoya and the veteran SSP Chawrasia are ready to test their skills.

The women’s side is equally exciting. Vani Kapoor, who just clinched the Order of Merit, will battle top players like Pranavi Urs, Sneha Singh, Amandeep Drall, Neha Tripathi, and Jasmine Shekar. This line‑up promises some of the toughest competition the IGPL has seen this season.

Gaganjeet Bhullar, the most successful Indian on the Asian Tour and a two‑time IGPL champion, will miss the Mumbai event as he continues his run on the Asian Tour.

The BPGC round is especially crucial. It’s the final IGPL event before the big Bharath Classic 2025 in Gujarat. That tournament, co‑sanctioned by the IGPL and the Asian Tour, offers a hefty $500,000 purse and can launch players into the 2026 season. A strong finish in Mumbai will also boost a golfer’s chances in the IGPL Order of Merit. The top spot in the Order of Merit guarantees entry into the $2 million International Series in India and can open doors on the global stage.

For many Indian golfers, the Asian Tour is the route to international recognition. Kochhar’s recent Egyptian victory positions him well to finish in the top five on the Asian Development Tour (ADT). The conditions on the ADT mirror those in India, making it an attractive path.

The Order of Merit battle will see current leader Aman Raj defended by Pukhraj Singh Gill and teenage talent Kartik Singh. If Gill clinches a win, he could overtake Raj. Kartik, who has shown impressive form, still needs his first IGPL title. A win in Mumbai could push him past Raj and into the top spot. Other contenders like Kapil Kumar and Sachin Baisoya can also climb the leaderboard with a victory.

Alongside the top stars, the field includes Olympian Udayan Mane, former Indian Open champion C Muniyappa, and teenaged Veer Ganapathy, who is chasing his maiden win after several solid outings.

For any of Guy, Kartik, or Sachin to reach the summit, they’ll need Aman Raj to tumble down the leaderboard. Despite not finishing in the top ten in Jamshedpur, Raj’s current form keeps him a serious threat.

Players and fans alike will watch closely as the IGPL Invitational in Mumbai could set the tone for the rest of the season and decide who earns a spot at the lucrative Bharath Classic and beyond.
