India comfortably beat Australia by 48 runs in the fourth T20I, taking a clean‑sweep 2‑1 lead in the five‑match series. The match was played at Carrara Oval on the Gold Coast, where Washington Sundar delivered a stunning 3‑3 haul, while Axar Patel and Shivam Dube each claimed two wickets.
India set a target of 167/8 against a seamer‑friendly, flat pitch. The bowlers kept the pressure on, with every Indian bowler taking a wicket. Sundar’s spell was the highlight, claiming four wickets to complete his 50th T20I career wicket. Axar and Dube added two more each, giving India a clear advantage.
Australia started their chase with 20 runs from Matthew Short and Mitchell Marsh, but the India spin attack quickly disrupted the rhythm. Short was out LLB to Axar, and Marsh fell to a slower ball from Dube. The middle order failed to build partnerships, and the Australians were pushed into a 67/1 position. From there, the wickets fell fast: Josh Inglish, Tim David, Josh Philippe, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, and Adam Zampa. Australia collapsed, losing nine wickets for only 52 runs, and were all out for 119 in 18.2 overs.
India’s batting, meanwhile, began with a solid opening partnership of 49 runs between Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill. The top order stopped converting good starts into big scores, but the middle order’s collapse opened the door for the Australians. Indian pacer Nathan Ellis and leg‑spinner Adam Zampa took the best figures, each claiming three wickets and limiting the Australian batsmen to 46 runs in the final six overs.
The win gives India a comfortable lead and leaves Australia with a must‑win match in Brisbane on Saturday. With Sundar’s performance, this game was a showcase of India’s dominance in the current T20I series.
