MyGov India launches ‘Veer Gatha 5.0’ to honour India’s bravehearts

New Delhi, Nov 8 — MyGov India, the Union Government’s citizen‑engagement platform, has rolled out Project Veer Gatha 5.0 today. The new edition promises to spark patriotism in students by celebrating tales of bravery from India’s gallantry award winners.

Launched in 2021 under the Gallantry Awards Portal, Project Veer Gatha is a joint effort between the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Education and MyGov. It gives school pupils across the country a chance to turn heroic stories into poems, essays, artwork, and multimedia projects.

The program has grown fast: 800,000 students joined the first round, and last year’s edition drew 1.76 million participants. Defence and Education ministers have praised the project as a “revolutionary effort” that builds civic pride among young Indians.

“We’re seeing record participation—8 lakh in the first year, almost 2 million in 2024‑25,” the spokesperson said. “Each edition lifts the spirit of our nation.”

During Veer Gatha 4.0’s award ceremony on Jan 25, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan highlighted historic heroes such as Prithviraj Chauhan, King Kharavela and the Chola dynasty, urging their stories be added to the new edition. He also called for tech‑savvy elements like videography and anchoring under the theme “Samarik Parampara” (military traditions).

Project Veer Gatha 5.0 will set up a “Veer Gatha Corner” in every school, showcasing student work. The Ministry of Education and Defence will honor 100 national winners—dubbed the “Super 100”—each receiving a ₹10,000 cash prize. State and district winners will be celebrated locally.

With every new release, Project Veer Gatha deepens its reach, connecting young Indians to stories of courage, sacrifice and service. The legacy of the nation’s heroes lives on through the voices of its students, ensuring a future steeped in patriotism and pride.
