Adani International School Hosts Thrilling ISSO National Games Chess Competition 2025
Excitement filled the air at Adani International School in Shantigram, Ahmedabad, as they pulled off the ISSO National Games Chess Competition 2025. This two-day chess tournament drew over 370 talented young players from more than 80 schools across 10 states in India. The event turned the campus into a buzzing center of strategy, focus, and sportsmanship, with over 650 people joining in—including eager parents, dedicated coaches, and cheering supporters.
Young chess enthusiasts showcased their skills in four exciting age categories: Under-11, Under-14, Under-17, and Under-19. These high-stakes games gave students a real chance to shine under pressure and build their chess prowess.
The opening ceremony kicked off with a special touch from Namrata Adani, Promoter of Adani International School. She chatted with the participants, boosting their confidence and setting a positive vibe. Chess experts Bhavesh Patel, former Secretary of the Gujarat State Chess Association and Vice-President of the All India Chess Federation, and Grandmaster Ankit Rajpara also spoke. They shared inspiring stories from their careers, motivating the kids to aim high in the world of chess.
After two days of nail-biting matches, Chatrabhuj Narsee School from Mumbai grabbed the Overall Champion title. Indus International School from Hyderabad came in as the proud Runners-Up. School officials highlighted how events like this are fueling India’s chess boom. With rising stars like R Praggnanandhaa and D Gukesh making waves globally, these school-level chess tournaments play a key role in grooming the next generation of Indian chess champions.
