Indian spinner Sneh Rana is fired up about the upcoming Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025. The all-rounder says the Indian team is laser-focused on lifting the trophy for the first time.
Sneh joins the squad as they kick off their campaign against Sri Lanka in Guwahati on September 30. She made a strong comeback to India’s white-ball side this year after a break since 2023, grabbing 21 wickets in just 11 matches with an average of 22.09. Her standout performance? A five-wicket haul of 5/43.
Chatting on the JioHotstar show “Off the Pitch,” Sneh shared her excitement for the big tournament. “As a cricketer, you always dream of playing in the World Cup and representing your nation,” she said. “It’s going to be interesting and challenging, especially since we’re playing at home. It’s a special feeling—and even more so for Harman didi (captain Harmanpreet Kaur), who’s been at it for so many years. Our aim is to fill the trophy cabinet with a World Cup.”
Sneh also praised the Women Premier League (WPL) for boosting Indian women’s cricket. The league lets homegrown players rub shoulders with the world’s best. “It gives us the stage to play alongside and against top-class players from around the world,” she explained. “You learn from elite foreign coaches—their strategies, how they think, and how they react in key moments. Even just watching them is a huge learning experience.”
Since the WPL started in 2023, Sneh has suited up for Gujarat Giants and Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 17 games, snagging 12 wickets at an average of 35.33. Her best spell there: 3/26.
The World Cup buzz even creeps into India’s bilateral series, Sneh noted. She highlighted that this marks head coach Amol Muzumdar’s first World Cup. “We’re going to play in front of a huge crowd in India, and it’s going to be a memorable campaign,” she added. “We’re ready for it.”
India’s full squad for the Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 includes: Harmanpreet Kaur (captain), Smriti Mandhana (vice-captain), Pratika Rawal, Harleen Deol, Jemimah Rodrigues, Richa Ghosh, Yastika Bhatia, Renuka Singh Thakur, Deepti Sharma, Sneh Rana, Sree Charani, Radha Yadav, Amanjot Kaur, Arundhati Reddy, and Kranti Gaud.
The reserves are Tejal Hasabnis, Prema Rawat, Priya Mishra, Uma Chetry, Minnu Mani, and Sayali Satghare.
