The All India Pickleball Association (AIPA), India’s longest-standing group for the fast-growing sport of pickleball, kicks off its 9th National Pickleball Championship in Jammu from September 26 to 28, 2025. Teaming up with the Jammu & Kashmir Olympic Association and organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Amateur Pickleball Association (JKAPA), this event draws over 450 players from more than 24 states. It’s set to be the biggest pickleball gathering the region has ever hosted, showcasing top talent from across the country.

For the first time, the national championship heads to Jammu, spotlighting the city as a rising center for sports and community vibes. AIPA started back in 2008 and has worked hard to build pickleball from the ground up, spreading it to over 24 states. Since 2013, they’ve run championship events in spots like Panipat, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Jaipur, according to an AIPA press release.

“This championship celebrates the passion, grit, and unity that pickleball sparks in people all over India,” said Arvind Prabhoo, AIPA’s president. “Hosting it in Jammu is a big win, and we can’t wait for it to fire up a new wave of athletes in this vibrant area.”

Puneet Chopra, president of the Jammu Pickleball Association, added: “Bringing a national event this huge to Jammu is an incredible honor. It highlights our booming sports scene and lets local players and fans dive into India’s pickleball boom. We’re thrilled to host athletes from everywhere and show off Jammu’s amazing energy.”

AIPA keeps a strong focus on fair play and strong leadership for pickleball in India. They’re in the middle of a court case in the Delhi High Court over a new federation’s recognition, but they stick to their 18 years of know-how in putting athletes first. The group also cheers the National Sports Governance Bill 2025, seeing it as a game-changer for clear rules, positive changes, and policies that prioritize players in Indian sports.

With excitement ramping up, Jammu gears up for three days of intense matches and fun gatherings. The event reinforces AIPA’s goal to grow pickleball nationwide, making it a hit in every corner of India.
