Alpine skiing-Odermatt says still room for improvement in speed events

Swiss alpine skier Alina Odermatt has said she still has work to do in speed events, even after a solid season on the World Cup circuit.

During a press conference in Innsbruck, Odermatt told reporters that she feels “room for improvement” in downhill and super‑G races. She said she wants to lower her times and stay more competitive against the sport’s best.

Odermatt, 19, has been showing promise in technical events, but she misses the push that comes from faster starts and more consistent landings in the speed disciplines. “I know I can push harder,” she explained. “I’m going to focus on my gear, my run‑line, and working with my coaches to make those seconds count.”

The Swiss skier finished 23rd in the recent World Cup downhill in Kranjska Gora, a result below her own expectations. “It’s disappointing, but it tells me where I need to improve,” she said. “I’ll come back stronger next season.”

She added that her training regimen will emphasize strength, conditioning, and mental focus. “Speed events demand a lot of power and precision,” Odermatt said. “I’m building on that now and looking ahead to the next season.”

With the next World Championship on the horizon, Swiss officials and fans alike will be watching closely. Odermatt’s goal is to break into the top ten in speed races, turning the lessons from this season into stronger results in the next.
