Jaipur – In a standout performance at the IGPL Invitational Jaipur, seasoned golfer Aman Raj moved near his first professional win in 22 months. The 45‑year‑old shot a blistering 9‑under 61 in round two, taking his total to 18‑under and putting him four shots ahead of rookie Kartik Singh.
Raj’s two‑day run has been a masterclass in birdies. He went from the first tee in Jaipur, quickly grabbed his first birdie, and followed it up with a second on the second hole. A run of three birdies from holes 5 to 7 gave him 4‑under early in the round. Even after a few pars, he finished with four birdies in the final five holes, boosting his score to a gutsy 18‑under for the tournament.
“The dip in play was minimal,” Raj said after the second round. “An early chip‑in helped, and the next few birdies followed. I just relaxed on the back nine, holed some putts, and ended on a high note.” He added that he is still focusing on recovery and will bring the same mindset into the final round.
Rival Kartik Singh, the 16‑year‑old breakout from the IGPL’s first season, has also kept pace with the leaders. He earned an eagle on the par‑5 eighth hole and added six more birdies, though a single bogey slipped him back to 14‑under. Singh faces a tough challenge as he pursues his first pro title against veterans like Raj and former champ Udayan Mane.
Mane, who shot a 65‑62 round that included a bogey‑free 8‑under second day, aims to spark a win on his first IGPL appearance. “I love this course,” he said. “If I can get a fast start, it will be a good contest.” Mane sits five shots behind Raj and one behind Singh.
Other notable performances include Shat Mishra, who dropped from first‑day 8‑under to an even‑70 second day, keeping him tied for 10th. Kapil Kumar, the IGPL Pune winner, posted a 66 to stay at 6‑under overall, tied for 14th. Ridhima Dilawari made a strong comeback with a 65 second day, leading the women’s field.
The tournament also saw promising talent: rookie pro Veer Ganapathy and Samarth Dwivedi finished tied for seventh at 9‑under, while Rahul Ravi remains the top amateur, tied for 21st.
With the final round approaching, Jaipur’s IGPL Invitational promises a thrilling showdown. Veteran Amas Raj looks to close the drought, while rookie Kartik Singh seeks a breakthrough title, all over the historic Pink City course.
