Pakistan Thrills Fans with Dominant Win Over UAE in T20 Asia Cup Super 4s
Dubai, UAE: Pakistan’s bowlers fired on all cylinders to crush UAE by 41 runs in a high-stakes T20 Asia Cup Super 4s match on Wednesday. This victory punches Pakistan’s ticket to the next stage and tees up an exciting rematch with India. Chasing a target of 147, UAE crumbled to 105 all out, handing Pakistan a commanding win that keeps their Asia Cup campaign alive.
UAE’s chase got off to a shaky start right away. Opener Alishan Sharafu fell for just 12 to Shaheen Afridi’s sharp bowling. Captain Muhammad Waseem couldn’t steady the ship either, getting dismissed by Abrar Ahmed for 14. The powerplay ended with more trouble as Saim Ayub and Muhammad Zohaib lost their wickets, leaving UAE reeling.
Things looked a bit brighter for UAE when Rahul Chopra and Dhruv Parashar stitched together a 48-run stand for the fifth wicket. But Haris Rauf broke it up, sending Parashar packing for 20. Chopra fought hard as the lone warrior, smashing 35 runs before Pakistan skipper Salman Agha got him out. After that, UAE’s lower order folded like a house of cards, adding just nine more runs. Their innings wrapped up in a disappointing heap at 105.
Pakistan’s bowlers were the stars of the show. Abrar Ahmed grabbed 2 for 13, while Afridi and Rauf kept the pressure on. This clinical performance in the T20 Asia Cup Super 4s shows why Pakistan’s pace attack remains one of the best.
Earlier, UAE’s bowlers put up a strong fight to keep the game tight. Fast bowler Junaid Siddique shone brightest with 4 wickets for 18 runs, and left-arm spinner Simranjeet Singh chipped in with three scalps. They bundled Pakistan out for 146 for 9 in a must-win clash for both sides.
Pakistan’s innings started poorly, slumping to 9 for 2 in just three overs. Saim Ayub notched his third straight duck, and Sahibzada Farhan fell soon after surviving an lbw scare via DRS. Fakhar Zaman and Salman Agha then rescued the innings with a solid 61-run partnership off 50 balls. Zaman led the charge, blasting two sixes off Dhruv Parashar and racing to his half-century in 35 balls.
But wickets tumbled steadily after that. Agha sliced one to deep cover, and Simranjeet struck twice in an over. Zaman fell caught at short extra cover right after his fifty, followed by Hasan Nawaz’s lbw dismissal. Junaid Siddique wrapped up his three-wicket haul by removing Mohammad Nawaz and Haris Rauf with a clever leg-cutter.
Enter Shaheen Afridi, who turned the tide with a blistering unbeaten 29 off 14 balls. He smashed two fours and a massive six in the final over, giving Pakistan’s total some real firepower.
Brief Scores:
Pakistan 146/9 in 20 overs (Fakhar Zaman 50, Shaheen Afridi 29*; Junaid Siddique 4/18, Simranjeet Singh 3/??)
UAE 105 all out in ?? overs (Rahul Chopra 35, Dhruv Parashar 20; Abrar Ahmed 2/13)
With this T20 Asia Cup Super 4s win, Pakistan gains momentum heading into their India showdown. Fans can’t wait for more action from these Asian cricket powerhouses!
