Kuldeep Yadav’s Stellar Spell Powers India to Easy Win Over UAE in Asia Cup Opener

In a dominant start to their 2025 Asia Cup campaign, India crushed UAE by nine wickets at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav stole the show with a brilliant 4-7 spell, including three wickets in one over, as India bowled out UAE for just 57 runs in 13.1 overs. The chase? A breeze, wrapped up in just 27 balls.

Kuldeep, named Player of the Match, opened up about his journey back to form. "It was tough not playing much lately," he said after the match. "But I focused on my bowling and fitness with our coach Adrian le Roux, and everything clicked perfectly tonight." He shared his secrets: "Length is key in T20 cricket. You have to read the batters, see what they’re planning, and react ball by ball."

India captain Suryakumar Yadav was all praise for the team’s sharp performance. After choosing to bowl first, he noted, "We wanted to test the pitch—it played the same in both innings. The boys showed great energy in the field, and that vibe carried into batting." He added that the hot Dubai conditions favored spinners, but pacers like Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, and Shivam Dube chipped in nicely. Many players had prepped here during the recent Champions Trophy, helping them adapt to the slower surface.

Opener Abhishek Sharma lit up the chase with a quickfire 30, and Suryakumar couldn’t hide his admiration. "Abhishek is a phenomenal batter—that’s why he’s the world’s number one right now," he said. "He always puts the team first, no matter the score. We’re all pumped for the big Pakistan clash on September 14."

On the other side, UAE captain Muhammad Waseem admitted the collapse hurt after a solid start. "We began well with the bat but lost wickets in bunches—that killed us," he reflected. "India is a top team; they bowled brilliantly and stuck to their plans against every batter." Looking ahead, Waseem vowed, "We’ll learn from this, come back stronger in our group games against Oman and Pakistan."

India’s clinical win sets a strong tone for the Asia Cup, with fans already buzzing about the India-Pakistan thriller. Kuldeep Yadav’s fitness and bowling tweaks have clearly paid off, making him a key player to watch.
