Dhaka, Oct 16 – Bangladesh has reshuffled its One‑Day International (ODI) squad before a three‑match series against the West Indies that kicks off Saturday. The team will field newly‑selected batters Soumya Sarkar and Mahidul Islam Ankon in place of Mohammad Naim and Nahid Rana.

The changes come after a disappointing 3‑0 defeat to Afghanistan in Abu Dhabi, where Naim struggled for 23 balls before falling to a slip, and Rana finished his final over without a wicket while doctors raised concerns about a possible injury.

Soumya returned to international form in February and missed the recent T20I series in the UAE because visa delays kept him from traveling. He is now expected to contribute strongly with the bat against the Caribbean side.

Uncapped in ODIs, wicket‑keeper Mahidul made his Test debut in Chattogram last year. He has been in fine domestic shape, scoring 46.86 on average in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League, including a century and ten fifties.

Bangladesh’s T20I captain Litton Das will miss the ODI series after scan results confirmed a side‑strain sustained during the Asia Cup. Team management decided to keep him rested to avoid aggravating the injury.

The selectors stood by spin big‑names Najmul Hossain Shanto, Jaker Ali, and Shamim Hossain, despite recent rough patches. The spin attack remains unchanged with Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Rishad Hossain leading the pack, while the pace unit still features Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed.

All three ODIs will be played at Mirpur on October 19, 21, and 23. The updated squad list is:

– Mehidy Hasan Miraz (c)
– Tanzid Hasan
– Soumya Sarkar
– Saif Hassan
– Najmul Hossain Shanto
– Towhid Hridoy
– Mahidul Islam (wk)
– Jaker Ali (wk)
– Shamim Hossain
– Nurul Hasan (wk)
– Rishad Hossain
– Tanvir Islam
– Taskin Ahmed
– Mustafizur Rahman
– Tanzim Hasan
– Hasan Mahmud

Bangladesh is looking to bounce back with a fresh mix of talent and experienced seamers while the West Indies bat to test their peak form.
