Team India clinched the Asia Cup 2025 title in a thrilling T20I final, beating Pakistan by five wickets in Dubai on Sunday. BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla shared his excitement, saying he always believed in the Men in Blue to lift the trophy.
This victory marks India’s second T20I Asia Cup win and their ninth overall, counting ODI editions. Tilak Varma starred with an unbeaten 69 off 53 balls, including three fours and four sixes. His key partnerships with Sanju Samson (24 off 21) and Shivam Dube (33 off 22) guided India to chase down 147.
Under captain Suryakumar Yadav, Team India keeps dominating T20Is. They’ve won 18 matches, lost just two, and tied two since he took over.
Shukla told , “I always had faith in the Indian Cricket Team. We are Asia Cup Champions.” His words capture the joy after this hard-fought Asia Cup 2025 final against Pakistan.
India won the toss and chose to bowl first. Pakistan started strong with an 84-run opening stand between Sahibzada Farhan (57 off 38, four fours, three sixes) and Fakhar Zaman (46 off 35, two fours, two sixes). But India’s spinners turned the game. Kuldeep Yadav took 4-30, Varun Chakaravarthy grabbed 2-30, and Jasprit Bumrah sealed it with 2-25. Pakistan collapsed from 113-1 to 146 all out in 19.1 overs.
In the chase, Pakistan’s Faheem Ashraf struck early, reducing India to 20-3. But Varma steadied the ship with a 57-run stand alongside Samson. Dube then unleashed big hits to push India ahead. Rookie Rinku Singh, in his first Asia Cup game, smashed the winning runs on the first ball of the final over. What a comeback in this high-stakes cricket showdown!
