India’s Boxing Federation (BFI) just revealed its 23-member squad for the upcoming Asian Youth Games 2025 in Bahrain. Right now, these young boxers are hitting the training camp at the National Sports Nursery in Patiala, running from September 23 through October 20.
BFI picked the team straight from the 6th U-17 Junior Boys and Girls National Boxing Championship 2025. Gold medal winners got direct spots on the squad, while silver winners stepped in as reserves for their weight classes.
These athletes include top stars from India’s big win at the Asian U-17 Championships in July 2025. There, the country grabbed 43 medals and landed second place overall, proving Indian youth boxing is on the rise and taking on Asia’s biggest names in the sport.
The core group features 14 boxers—seven boys and seven girls—supported by six coaches, two physiotherapists, and a doctor. Standouts like gold medalists Dhruv Kharb, Udham Singh Raghav, Khushi Chand, Ahaana Sharma, and Chandrika Bhoreshi Pujari are leading the charge. They’re fine-tuning their punches under head coach Vinod Kumar for the boys’ U-17 team and Jitender Raj Singh for the girls.
BFI President Ajay Singh shared his excitement: “In recent months, our young boxers have proven they can go head-to-head with Asia’s best, delivering strong results at continental and national events. This camp will build on that energy, hone their skills, and get them ready to chase medals in Bahrain. It’s all about showcasing the growing power of Indian boxing.”
With a mix of fresh faces and battle-tested champs, Team India looks set to shake things up at the Asian Youth Games. They’re aiming to turn their promise into real podium spots and cement India’s spot among Asia’s top youth boxing forces.
