British sprinter Hannah Carlin announced her retirement from competitive athletics today, ending a nine‑year career that saw her win multiple national titles and represent Great Brittain at major championships, including the 2022 World Championships and the 2024 Olympic Games.

Carlin, 27, said she decided to step away after a grueling training season that ended with a personal best of 11.07 seconds in the 100 metres and a record‑setting 22.88 seconds in the 200 metres. “I’ve given my all to this sport and I feel it’s the right time to move on to the next chapter of my life,” she told reporters. “I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished and grateful for the support from my family, coaches and fans.”

Her career highlights include:

* Three national 200 m titles (2019, 2020, 2022)
* Silver medal in the 4×100 m relay at the 2022 World Championships
* 6th‑place finish in the 100 m final at the 2024 Olympics

“The decision wasn’t easy, but I’m ready for new challenges,” Carlin added. She said she plans to stay close to athletics by coaching young sprinters and working with charities that promote sports in under‑privileged areas.

Carlin’s retirement comes as British athletics continues to look forward. The national team will now focus on grooming the next wave of sprinters for the upcoming World Championships in 2025 and the 2028 Olympic Games.

Fans can celebrate Carlin’s achievements on her social media pages, where she posted a heartfelt thank‑you message and photos from her latest training camp. She also thanked her support crew, highlighting her long‑time coach, Dr. Emma White, who guided her through her peak years.
