Sharma started her semi‑final with a flurry of winners and aggressive smashes. She opened the first game with a 7‑3 lead and never let Liu close the gap, finishing the game 15‑11 in just 13 minutes. The second game proved tighter; Sharma let a few shots slip to Liu before rallying back with a powerful down‑the‑line smash that sealed the win 15‑9.
She praised her focused mindset, saying she “felt very comfortable today” and that working “inside the lines” helped curb early mistakes. Sharma now aims to follow Saina’s legacy by winning the title on home soil.
In the boys’ singles, top seed Mohd. Zaki Ubaidillah pulled a hard‑fought win over China’s Li Zhi Hang, 14‑16, 16‑14, 15‑12. Ubaidillah survived three match points in the second game and used powerful smashes to close out the match in a tough 60‑minute affair.
