Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty powered into the final of the China Masters 2025, delivering a strong win in the men’s doubles semifinals in Shenzhen, China. The Indian duo, currently ranked fourth in the BWF world rankings, dominated second-seeded Malaysians Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik with a straight-sets victory of 21-17, 21-14. The match lasted just 41 minutes at the Shenzhen Arena.
The action stayed tight early on, with both pairs trading the lead until 13-13 in the first game. From there, Rankireddy and Shetty pulled ahead to 19-14 and sealed the set 21-17. In the second game, the Indians jumped out to an 8-2 advantage. The Malaysians clawed back to 8-6, but Rankireddy and Shetty responded with four straight points to hit 10-6. Even as their opponents narrowed it to 11-9, the Indians kept control and wrapped up the win 21-14 to book their spot in the final.
As eighth seeds in this BWF World Tour Super 750 event, Rankireddy and Shetty will face the winner of the other semifinal between top-seeded Koreans Won Ho Kim and Seung Jae Seo or the Indonesian pair Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri. This marks their second final of the season, coming off a runner-up finish at the Hong Kong Open last week.
Earlier in the tournament, the Indians cruised through their quarterfinal, beating China’s Ren Xiang Yu and Xie Haonan 21-14, 21-14 in 38 minutes. They’re now the last Indians standing in the $1.25 million prize money event, after top women’s singles player P.V. Sindhu exited in the quarters. Sindhu fell to world No. 1 An Se Young of Korea 14-21, 13-21 in another 38-minute match on Friday.
