In Shenzhen, China, excitement filled the air at the 2025 BWF China Masters badminton tournament—a top-tier Super 750 event—on Sunday. China’s Weng Hongyang powered through to win the men’s singles, defeating Lin Chun-yi from Chinese Taipei 21-11, 21-15. “I played strong with smart strategies and a focused mind,” Weng said. “My steady performance comes from solid prep in training and everyday life.”
The women’s doubles final turned into a nail-biter, lasting about 80 minutes. China’s Jia Yifan and Zhang Shuxian fought back to beat South Korea’s Kim Hye-jeong and Kong Hee-yong 21-19, 16-21, 21-13. Jia shared her mindset: “I told Zhang to play like it’s an Olympic final. If we don’t push through tough spots on the court, we might not get another shot.” She added that the win boosted her confidence: “It shows I still got it.”
South Korea’s world No. 1 An Se-young kept her women’s singles title with a dominant showing, overwhelming China’s Han Yue 21-11, 21-3 thanks to her blazing speed and sharp shots. An reflected, “Sure, victories matter, but I want to figure out how to truly enjoy the badminton I love.” Han admitted, “Her speed put huge pressure on me—I wanted to score more but couldn’t break her defense. Thanks to the fans for the cheers; I’m sorry I couldn’t do better.”
South Korea also shone in men’s doubles, as world champs Kim Won-ho and Seo Seung-jae outlasted India’s star pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty 21-19, 21-15.
In mixed doubles, Thailand’s Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Supissara Paewsampran claimed the crown with a convincing 21-8, 21-17 win over Malaysia’s world champions Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei. Dechapol beamed, “We’re thrilled to grab our first Masters title right here in Shenzhen.”
