India’s cricket prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi keeps breaking records at just 14 years old. On Wednesday, the teenage left-hander smashed a stunning 78-ball century for India U19 against Australia U19 in a Youth Test match at Brisbane’s Ian Healy Oval. This effort ranks as the fourth-fastest Youth Test century in history.
Suryavanshi now stands alone as the second batter ever—after Brendon McCullum—to score two U19 Test hundreds in under 100 balls. His previous blitz came last year in Chennai, where he fired a 58-ball ton against Australia U19. That one holds the spot as the second-fastest Youth Test century, trailing only England’s Moeen Ali.
He fell for 113 runs off 86 balls in this innings, blasting eight sixes and nine boundaries before Hayden Schiller got him out. Teammate Vedant Trivedi also lit up the game, notching 140 runs from 192 deliveries.
Just last week in Brisbane, Suryavanshi rewrote the Youth ODI record books. During a 70-run knock off 68 balls against Australia, he claimed the most career sixes in the format. With five fours and six maximums, his fourth six that day pushed him past former India U19 captain Unmukt Chand’s mark of 38 sixes from 21 matches. Suryavanshi did it in only 10 innings and has since upped his total to 41.
Earlier this year, he made waves with 143 runs off 78 balls in the fourth Youth ODI against England. That made him the youngest centurion in U19 Men’s ODI history and delivered the fastest century ever in the format—off just 52 balls.
Suryavanshi burst onto the big stage even younger. He debuted in the IPL at 14 years and 23 days old, facing Lucknow Super Giants. Soon after, he became the IPL’s youngest centurion with a explosive 35-ball 100 against Gujarat Titans.
In IPL 2025, he racked up 252 runs across seven matches at a mind-blowing strike rate of 206.56. That firepower earned him the Super Striker of the Season award, proving he’s already a force in the pros.
