Doha, Dec 14 (LatestNewsX) – In a decisive 2‑0 victory over Pyramids, Flamengo secured a spot in the FIFA Intercontinental Cup final against Paris Saint‑Germain, thanks to a pair of assists from Giorgian de Arrascaeta to Leo Pereira and Danilo. Three days after defeating Cruz Azul in the FIFA Derby of the Americas, the Brazilian side added another trophy by triumphing in the FIFA Challenger Cup.
From the start, Flamengo focused on maintaining possession and building attacks through quick passes. Early on, an opportunistic corner from Plata was cleared by the goalkeeper, but Cebolinha struck the rebound; the ball subsequently hit Samy. Arrascaeta soon missed a clear chance wide. Arrascaeta executed a set piece into the box, where Danilo, always decisive, angled a header into the corner, finalising the 2‑0 lead. The Brazilian side held strong control of the ball, constantly pressuring the opposition backline. In stoppage time, Pedro drifted into the box unmarked, dribbled clear and fired a shot that was once again halted by El Shenawy. The result ensured Flamengo’s place in the Intercontinental Cup final.
