Players from India, Australia, Pakistan, and South Africa are shaking up the ICC Women’s ODI Player Rankings just ahead of the Women’s Cricket World Cup. Strong showings in recent series, especially with the bat, have sent several stars climbing the charts.
Take India’s Deepti Sharma—she jumped two spots to fifth place with 651 rating points. Her secret? Two impressive two-wicket hauls against Australia in the lead-up matches.
Batters stole the spotlight across these series. South Africa’s Tazmin Brits made the biggest leap, surging 15 places to sixth (669 points) thanks to back-to-back unbeaten centuries in their series win over Pakistan in Lahore. Brits has been on fire in ODIs this year, averaging 91.85 with 643 runs at a strike rate of 94.14. That’s a huge turnaround from her 73rd ranking at the start of September 2023.
Pakistan’s Sidra Amin also impressed, moving up 10 spots to 13th with a career-high 636 points. She smashed 121 not out, 122, and 50 not out across three matches—just 19 points shy of the top 10.
On the India-Australia front, opener Smriti Mandhana solidified her spot at the top of the batting rankings. She hit a career-high 818 rating points after scoring two centuries herself. Australia’s Beth Mooney closed the gap a bit, rising two places to third with 727 points.
Bowlers didn’t lag far behind. England’s Sophie Ecclestone holds a commanding lead as the top ODI bowler with 795 points—an 85-point edge over the field heading into the World Cup. India’s Kranti Gaud continued her breakout international form, climbing 23 spots to 39th. South Africa’s Ayabonga Khaka advanced three places to 15th (548 points) despite tough conditions in Lahore, where she took 2 for 36.
In the all-rounder rankings, South Africa’s Marizanne Kapp overtook Hayley Matthews to claim second place with 420 points. She notched a century and two wickets in consecutive games. Teammate Chloe Tryon shone too, grabbing a two-wicket haul in spin-friendly conditions. Australia’s Tahlia McGrath rose nine spots to 30th (128 points) with solid bowling throughout the series.
Keep an eye on rising talents like Australia’s Georgia Voll, who jumped 28 places to 61st, and Pakistan’s Natalia Pervaiz, up 54 spots with a half-century in the second ODI—putting her just outside the top 100.
These shifts highlight the excitement building for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, where these players could make even bigger impacts.
