Bengaluru, Nov 8 – Dhruv Jurel’s 127* was the star of India A’s second innings, giving the team a solid lead and boosting Jurel’s chances of moving up to the middle‑order for next week’s South Africa Test in Kolkata.
Jurel’s unbeaten 127 rescued India A from an early collapse. The team was 108‑for‑4 when he joined the field. After captain Rishabh Pant was hurt at 17 and the wickets fell in quick succession, Jurel steadied the score, then started running through the order with calm, controlled strokes. He built a big partnership with all‑rounder Harsh Dubey, who added 84 runs. Together they added 184 runs for the sixth wicket, turning the tide from a shaky position to a total of 382‑for‑7 declared.
India A’s 382 put South Africa A under pressure. The hosts were 25‑for‑0 after 11 overs of the second day, with openers Lesego Senokwane and Jordan Hermann handling a tough spell from Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep, and Prasidh Krishna. Siraj’s spell of 6‑2‑10‑0 was his most threatening, but Jurel’s innings kept India A on track.
With the score under control, India A declared, setting South Africa A a challenging target of 417 wides to win. The visitors now face an uphill battle to chase the target or scrape out a win before the final day’s pressure builds.
