MP: Two Navy personnel from Kerala killed in hit-and-run case near Bhopal

Bhopal, Nov. 9 – Two Indian Navy sailors lost their lives in a fatal motorcycle crash near the Raksha Vihar Colony in Bhopal’s Parvaliya area. The victims, Vishnu Arya and Anand Krishnan, both hailing from Kerala, were riding together to the Boat Club for a routine practice session when an unidentified vehicle struck their bike.

Police investigators say the collision happened at dawn, around 4 a.m. Witnesses reported a speeding vehicle that slammed into the motorcycle with great force, smashing the bike and killing the two men on impact. Both riders were wearing helmets, but the impact was too severe to survive. The police recovered two helmets from the scene and found the motorcycle in a crushed state, confirming a heavy vehicle caused the crash.

The sailors were rushed to a local hospital, where they could not be saved. Police officials confirmed that Vishnu’s body was pronounced dead later that morning. Both bodies were taken for post‑mortem exams while authorities launch a manhunt to identify the responsible vehicle.

CCTV footage from nearby establishments and the Raksha Vihar Colony is under review, and district officials have set up checkpoints across the area. Police are urging anyone who may have seen the accident or knows the driver to come forward.

The incident adds to a worrying trend of hit‑and‑run crashes in the region. Just last month, a police driver attached to the Additional Director General of Intelligence office also died in a similar collision in Parvaliya. Local leaders and Navy officials have called for stronger traffic enforcement and better surveillance to prevent future tragedies.

The Navy has been notified and is arranging the repatriation of the sailors’ bodies to Kerala. Senior officials expressed deep sorrow over the loss of two promising servicemen and promised full cooperation in the investigation.
