Central Zone Powers Ahead in Duleep Trophy 2025-26 Final Against South Zone

Bengaluru, Karnataka: Central Zone put on a dominant show on Day 2 of the Duleep Trophy 2025-26 final, ending the day at 384 for 5. They now hold a massive 235-run lead over South Zone, thanks to some fiery batting from their key players.

Rajat Patidar stole the spotlight with a stunning century. The star batter smashed 101 runs off just 115 balls, including 12 boundaries and two massive sixes. Yash Rathod wasn’t far behind, remaining unbeaten on 137 off 188 balls with 11 fours and one six. Their partnership added a crucial 167 runs, keeping South Zone’s bowlers on the back foot.

Danish Malewar chipped in with a steady 53 runs early on, helping build Central Zone’s strong total. At stumps, Rathod (137 not out) and Saransh Jain (47 not out) stood firm, setting up an exciting Day 3.

South Zone’s bowlers had a tough time, but Gurjapneet Singh shone through the struggle. He grabbed 3 wickets for 74 runs, dismissing Shubham Sharma for 6 and Malewar for 53. He also ended Patidar’s brilliant knock. Wicketkeeper-batter Upendra Yadav fell soon after for just 5.

The day started with Central Zone leading by 99 runs after Day 1. Overcast skies and windy conditions favored the bowlers, and South Zone’s Vasuki Koushik struck first. He bowled Akshay Wadkar for 22 with a sharp inswinger that crashed into the off stump.

Flashback to Day 1: Central Zone’s spinners wrecked South Zone on a grassy pitch at the BCCI Centre of Excellence. Saransh Jain took 5 for 49 in his second straight five-wicket haul, while left-arm spinner Kumar Kartikeya claimed 4 for 53. South Zone crumbled to 149 all out in 63 overs.

In response, Central Zone’s openers Malewar and Wadkar looked rock-solid before bad light halted play. They ended the day at 50 without loss, trailing by 99 runs.

Cricket fans are buzzing about this Duleep Trophy clash—will Central Zone seal the win, or can South Zone mount a comeback? Stay tuned for more updates from Bengaluru.
