Brad Marchand returned to Boston for the first time in years and the emotions were clearly on display. During a Tuesday game against the Bruins, the team played a tribute video on the TD Garden screen that highlighted his 15‑year career in Boston, including the 2011 Stanley Cup win.
The 37‑year‑old forward sat on the Panthers’ bench as the clips rolled, then broke into tears. He shuffled past the boards, lifted his stick to sign the fans, and the crowd roared in applause.
Marchand’s move to the Florida Panthers came in a trade just before last season’s deadline, sending a conditional 2027 second‑round pick to Boston. In Florida he helped the team capture its second straight Stanley Cup and later signed a six‑year deal to stay.
In a pre‑game interview with NESN, Marchand thanked Bruins fans, saying, “It’s been the best years of my life.” He paused to gather himself, adding, “Thank you for everything.”
With 422 goals and 976 points in 1,090 games, he ranks fourth in Bruins history for games played and goals, and fifth for points. The tribute underscored his lasting impact on the franchise and the deep bond he shared with Boston’s supporters.
