Gautam Gambhir, the head coach of the Indian cricket team, sent a warm salute to the Air Warriors on the 93rd Indian Air Force Day, posting a photo and a message on X. “Salute to the protectors of our skies #IndianAirForceDay,” he wrote, echoing the spirit of the day that celebrates the men and women who guard India’s skies.
The 93rd Indian Air Force Day celebrations took place at Hindon Air Force Station, near Delhi. Spectators watched a grand march‑past by air‑warriors, followed by a display of fighter jets on the tarmac. The event highlighted Operation Sindoor, a pivotal moment in the IAF’s history that showcased the force’s courage and precision.
Shikhar Dhawan, a former India batsman, also congratulated the IAF on X. “A salute to the ones who truly own the skies… Celebrating one of the best Air Forces in the world,” he said, underscoring the pride that the nation feels for its air power.
India’s air arm, the Indian Air Force (IAF), was formed on October 8, 1932, as a part of British India’s auxiliary air force. Its mission has always been to protect Indian airspace and to conduct aerial warfare in times of conflict. Over the decades, the IAF has evolved into one of the world’s strongest air forces.
While Gambhir thanked the Air Warriors, he also reminded fans of the upcoming cricket calendar. India’s men’s team will face Australia in a three‑match ODI series that starts on October 19 in Perth. They will then tour Australia for five T20Is beginning on October 29. These matches provide both sides with valuable practice ahead of next year’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which will be hosted in India and Sri Lanka.
The day was a reminder of India’s top‑class air power and the country’s sporting ambitions. From the skies to the cricket pitch, the nation celebrated its protectors and its athletes with equal enthusiasm.
