Taipei, Oct 24 – The Wistron Ladies Open, held at Sunrise Golf and Country Club, opened under heavy rain. The first‑day competition was cut short when a storm forced play to stop after eight holes on the back nine.
Tvesa Malik, the Indian contender who began the day on the back nine, stayed on par for all eight holes. She was tied for 19th on the leaderboard when the weather halted play.
Front‑nine player Avani Prashanth had finished nine holes with a score of five over par. Her record included three bogeys and one double bogey, placing her tied for 51st.
Indian golfers Pranavi Urs and Hitaashee Bakshi, who had recently performed strongly at the Hero Women’s Open, did not get a chance to tee off before the suspension.
The leaders when play stopped were Lauren Walsh and Kornkamol Sukaree, each at four under par after 12 holes starting on the back nine.
Shannon Tan, the current Order of Merit leader and recent winner of the Hero Women’s Indian Open, and defending champion Chiara Tamburlini had not yet begun their rounds.
Canadian teenager Anna Huang, who had missed the Hero Women’s Indian Open after back‑to‑back victories in Spain and France, was tied for 28th with one over par. She had played 11 holes with only a single bogey adding a stroke.
Because of the relentless rain and a flooded course, organizers announced a 54‑hole format for the tournament. Course staff are working to restore playing conditions. Other Indian players in the field include Hitaashee Bakshi, rookie Avani Prashanth, and Tvesa Malik. Diksha Dagar opted to skip the event.
