He thanked the federation for choosing the state and pointed out how Gujarat leads the way with top-notch facilities for athletes. The minister emphasized that the state always steps up to support world-class sports infrastructure.
Mark your calendars – the 11th Asian Aquatics Championship 2025 runs from September 28 to October 11 at the brand-new Veer Savarkar Sports Complex in Ahmedabad. Expect top swimmers from over 30 countries to compete, and get this: it doubles as a key qualifying event for the Asian Games 2026. This means high-stakes action that could shape India’s future in aquatics sports.
The ceremony drew a star-studded crowd, including Arjuna Award winner and double Olympian Sajan Prakash, fellow double Olympian Srihari Nataraj, 2023 Asian Games stars Kushagra Rawat and Advait Page, Paris 2024 Olympian Dhinidhi Desinghu, and Swimming Federation of India Secretary Monal Chokshi. Gujarat has quickly become India’s go-to hub for world-class sports facilities. The state boasts massive investments in stadiums, training centers, and academies that attract global attention. Take the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad – it’s the world’s largest cricket venue with over 130,000 seats. Then there’s the shiny new Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sports Enclave, a multi-sport complex ready for big international events.
The Veer Savarkar Sports Complex itself shines as the host for the 11th Asian Aquatics Championship 2025, putting Gujarat on the map for aquatic sports excellence. Cities across the state, like Gandhinagar, Surat, Rajkot, and Vadodara, feature modern setups including indoor stadiums, swimming pools, shooting ranges, and athletics tracks.
To boost grassroots sports, the Gujarat government runs fun initiatives like Khel Mahakumbh. Every year, over 50 lakh athletes join in across various disciplines, from swimming to athletics. By blending mega stadiums, specialized academies, and programs that reach rural areas, Gujarat isn’t just hosting events – it’s nurturing the next generation of Indian Olympians and putting Indian sports on the world stage.
