Harry Kane, Tottenham Hotspur’s all-time top scorer, has shared his surprise over Daniel Levy’s sudden exit as the club’s executive chairman. Kane, who now plays for FC Bayern Munich after leaving Spurs in 2023, praised Levy for his incredible work over nearly 25 years at the North London club.
“It was a bit of a shock, to be honest,” Kane said. “I didn’t see it coming at all. Daniel has been an amazing chairman for Tottenham for about 20 years. Look at how the club has changed—from where it started to what it is today. That’s huge progress, not just on the pitch but off it too. Clubs always go through changes, especially at the top levels.”
Levy’s departure has sparked rumors about potential ownership shifts at Tottenham Hotspur, but the club quickly denied those claims. Under his leadership, Spurs transformed into a global football powerhouse. They’ve competed in European competitions for 18 out of the last 20 seasons and invested heavily in their youth academy, star players, and top-notch facilities. Highlights include a stunning new world-class stadium and a state-of-the-art training center.
On the field, Tottenham Hotspur enjoyed plenty of successes, like their recent Europa League triumph, keeping them at the highest level of football.
Kane, reflecting on his time with Levy, added, “I don’t know the full details of why it happened, but I wish Daniel all the best for whatever comes next. We built a good relationship during our years together, and I’m sure we’ll catch up someday. For Tottenham Hotspur, this feels like the start of a fresh chapter they’re building now.”
