Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood stayed calm and focused during his ten‑over spell, conceding just 29 runs in the second ODI at Adelaide Oval. His tight bowling helped Australia win by two wickets against India, and he said he had no regrets even though he didn’t take a wicket.
Hazlewood’s spell was all about accuracy and control. The damp pitch gave him plenty of help, allowing him to swing the ball and keep the Indian batsmen on their toes. “It was a good toss to win,” Hazlewood told cricket.com.au. “We kept the ball in the right spots and they struggled to play it.”
With captain Pat Cummins expected to miss the first Ashes Test in Perth because of a lower‑back stress injury, Hazlewood is ready to step up. He’s likely to play in the final ODI in Sydney, as well as the first two T20Is against India in Canberra and Melbourne next week.
After those matches, Hazlewood plans to play the opening rounds of the Sheffield Shield. He aims to get back on the field for the fourth state‑league game against Victoria at the Sydney Cricket Ground on November 10.
“The high‑intensity cricket we’re playing now is the best way to keep ready,” Hazlewood added. “Playing in the Shield against Victoria is the plan, and if everything goes well, I’ll be ready for the next week in Sydney.”
The Aussie fast bowler’s steady approach and upcoming opportunities make him a key figure as Australia looks to strengthen its pace attack for the Ashes and the summer’s limited‑overs series.
