Bayern Munich’s new head coach, Vincent Kompany, has brushed off any credit he might have earned for Harry Kane’s sharp scoring streak. “He unlocked that next level himself,” Kompany told reporters before the upcoming Bundesliga clash, and said the striker’s success comes entirely from his own work ethic and hunger for goals.
Kane, the England captain and one of the best strikers of his generation, scored twice as the Three Lions crushed Latvia 5‑0 on Tuesday. That win sealed England’s spot at the 2026 World Cup and kept the star forward on a roll.
In the press conference Kompany added that Kane has always pushed himself, and that his “mental” drive is what carried him past the so‑called “title curse” – a trophy‑free spell that lasted with Tottenham and the first part of his Bayern career. He finally broke the drought last season when Bayern lifted the Bundesliga crown, ending Kane’s search for a team trophy.
Looking ahead, Kompany wants Kane to stay hot as Bayern hosts Borussia Dortmund. The two clubs remain unbeaten in domestic and European competitions, and Dortmund sits just four points behind the leaders. Kompany said the match will be a true showdown: “It’s first versus second, both teams unbeaten—two fists going against each other.”
The Bundesliga classic promises drama for Bayern fans and a showcase for Kane’s continued scoring prowess.
