As Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday approaches on September 17, Indian cricket star Mohammed Siraj has opened up about the incredible support the team gets from the country’s leader, win or lose. In a heartfelt video shared on X as part of the ‘My Modi Story’ campaign, Siraj shared how PM Modi’s encouragement keeps the players motivated.
Siraj, a rising star in India’s pace attack, remembered the tough 2023 ODI World Cup final in Ahmedabad. The Rohit Sharma-led team fell short against Australia by six wickets, missing out on a third title. But PM Modi visited the dressing room right after, boosting everyone’s spirits with his inspiring words. “In 2023, after our World Cup loss, Modi ji came to the dressing room and lifted our spirits with his words,” Siraj said. Fast forward to 2024, when India clinched the T20 World Cup in Barbados—PM Modi called to congratulate them and even hosted the team at his New Delhi residence. “A year later, when we won the T20 WC, he called to congratulate us. He stood by us in defeat and in victory—true inspiration,” Siraj added.
Not just Siraj—former Indian opener Krishnamachari Srikkanth also shared his ‘My Modi Story’ on X. The 1983 World Cup hero recalled his first meeting with PM Modi during the 2011 World Cup. “I broke protocol; he broke the ice with a hug,” Srikkanth wrote. Over the years, he’s been impressed by Modi’s sharp intelligence and grasping power. “We have met over the years on different occasions, and I have come to admire the person he is. At 75, still humble, building the nation and serving tirelessly for us.”
These personal tales highlight PM Modi’s impact on cricketers and everyday Indians alike. As the nation prepares to celebrate his milestone birthday, the ‘My Modi Story’ campaign is buzzing with stories showing his dedication and warmth. From sports victories to national growth, Modi’s journey continues to inspire millions.
