New Delhi – Indian women’s football is having its best year ever. All three national squads—senior, U20 and U17—have secured spots in the 2025 AFC Women’s Asian Cup, a first‑time hat‑trick that puts India on Asia’s biggest women’s stage.

U17s book place in China 2026
India’s U17 team finished the first two qualifiers in Bishkek with 2‑1 wins over Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, earning a place in the AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup 2026 in China. Head coach Joakim Alexandersson praised the girls’ nerves‑breaking character and said the team is ready to keep moving forward. “We joked that the job was done, but it’s just the start,” he said. The squad’s experience in the Indian Women’s League 2, where many of them played with the Indian Arrows Women Juniors, gave them a solid foundation.

U20 coach sees bright future
Alexandersson also led the U20 side to qualification for the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup Thailand 2026 last month. “Success across age groups boosts interest for young girls and puts Indian football on the radar,” he added.

Senior team gears up for friendlies
The senior squad, fresh off their qualification win in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026 Qualifiers in Thailand, will face Iran on October 21 and Nepal on October 27 in Shillong. Matches start at 18:00 IST and run live on FIFA+.

Crispin Chettri talks talent pipeline
Blue Tigresses coach Crispin Chettri highlighted the Indian Arrows’ role in nurturing talent. “Playing in IWL 2 helps U17 players get real game time against good teams,” he said. “We’re building a pipeline from U17 to U20 to the senior team, so the next Asian Cup in Australia will be powered by fresh young talent.”

With all three teams ready for the continental competition, Indian women’s football is shining brighter than ever, inspiring a new generation of girls to lace up their boots and chase their dreams.
