Hockey: India A men’s team remains unbeaten, women’s team displays fighting spirit in China tour

India’s A‑team hockey squads finished their Chinese exposure tours on a high note, gaining key experience against solid local opposition.

India A Men’s Team – Changzhou, Jiangsu

The men’s side played four matches against Gansu Club from October 12‑18. They won every game, showing big swings in performance.

  • First game: 7‑0 victory, with Varun Kumar and Selvam Karthi each scoring from penalty corners.
  • Second game: 2‑1 win, goals from Selvam Karthi and Aditya Arjun Lalage.
  • Third game: 8‑0 triumph; Poovanna Chandura Boby landed a penalty corner, while Lalage, Maninder Singh, Selvam Karthi, and Venkatesh Dhananjay Kenche scored field goals. Captain Sanjay also added a penalty‑corner goal, and Mohammed Raheel Mouseen netted twice.
  • Fourth game: 8‑3 win. Rajkumar Pal, Uttam Singh and Kenche found the net from the field; Amandeep Lakra converted a penalty corner, while Lalage scored two goals and Sanjay hit two more from penalty corners.

Angad Bir Singh’s hat‑trick in the opening match grabbed headlines. Aditya Arjun Lalage emerged top scorer with four goals, matching the tally of Sanjay, Selvam Karthi, and Kenche.

India A Women’s Team – Dalian, Liaoning

The women played five matches against Liaoning from October 13‑21. They finished with four draws and one loss, showing steady resilience.

  • Opening match: 1‑1 draw. Albela Rani Toppo scored for India.
  • Second match: 1‑3 loss, but Manisha Chauhan netted a fighting goal.
  • Third match: 1‑1 draw, with Chauhan on target again.
  • Fourth match: 2‑2 draw; Baljeet Kaur and Chauhan each added a goal.
  • Fifth match: 3‑3 draw, as Kajal Sadashiv Atpadkar, Pooja Yadav, and Deepika Soreng scored for India.

The series gave the young players valuable exposure to fast‑paced Chinese hockey and highlighted key talents like Chauhan, Baljeet Kaur, and the goal‑scoring trio in the final match.

Across both tours, India A’s men and women showcased encouraging firepower and growing teamwork, setting the stage for stronger showings in upcoming international competitions.
