SG Pipers, the exciting hockey franchise, just made a big move to gear up for the new season. They’ve appointed Tim Oudenaller as head coach for the men’s team and Sofie Gierts for the women’s team. These picks show the team’s drive to push boundaries in Indian hockey and nurture top talent.
With these experienced international coaches on board, SG Pipers are setting the stage for a powerhouse campaign. Tim and Sofie will focus on building a solid squad, boosting leadership skills, and getting both teams ready to dominate the league.
Padma Bhushan awardee Sreejesh PR, the Director of Hockey at SG Pipers, couldn’t be more thrilled. “Bringing Tim and Sofie on board is a game-changer for us,” he said. “They’ve guided top European clubs to victory and know how to blend players from all backgrounds. Their deep knowledge of club and international hockey will create the perfect vibe for our teams to thrive.”
Tim Oudenaller, a Dutch coaching star, leads Kampong in the Dutch Hoofdklasse league. He’s famous for his no-nonsense style that turns teams into tight-knit winners. Excited about his new chapter in Indian hockey, Tim shared, “I grew up watching India’s hockey dominance. As an ambitious coach, jumping into one of the world’s best leagues with SG Pipers feels right. Our balanced squad is ready to chase the title.”
On the women’s side, Sofie Gierts brings trailblazing energy. This Belgian hockey icon has coached a men’s team in Belgium’s top league at Royal Uccle and won a national title with Royal Antwerp’s women. She also boasts 140 caps for Belgium’s Red Panthers during her playing days. Sofie is all about clear communication and hands-on guidance.
“I’m honored to join SG Pipers,” Sofie said with enthusiasm. “This league isn’t just about wins—it’s a global celebration of hockey’s spirit and talent. What fires me up is empowering women to shine on the big stage. With our strong foundation, we’ll build something special that inspires the entire hockey world.”
Tim and Sofie will team up with last season’s star players like Shamsher Singh, Jacob Whetton, Jarmanpreet Singh, Sangita Kumari, Deepika Sehrawat, and Navneet Kaur. Fresh talents will join the mix, all training under the new coaches and Sreejesh PR’s expert eye. Get ready for an action-packed season of Indian hockey excellence!
