Indian Hockey Star Navneet Kaur Hits 200 International Caps Milestone at Women’s Asia Cup 2025
In a proud moment for Indian women’s hockey, star forward Navneet Kaur reached 200 international caps during India’s Super4s match against Japan at the Women’s Asia Cup 2025 in Hangzhou. The 29-year-old achieved this feat on Saturday, and Hockey India quickly congratulated her for the impressive milestone.
Right now, Navneet shines as the second-highest scorer for India in the ongoing Women’s Asia Cup 2025. Her journey started strong in 2014 with her senior debut, right after she helped the junior team grab a bronze at the 2013 Junior Women’s World Cup. Since then, she’s become a reliable force in the Indian women’s team, competing in every major global tournament and helping elevate the squad’s performance worldwide.
Remember that thrilling run at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics? Navneet played a key role as India finished fourth, just missing a medal. She also shone at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, where her efforts helped secure a bronze. In the Asian Games, she contributed to the silver in 2018 at Jakarta-Palembang and the bronze in 2022 at Hangzhou.
Navneet’s trophy cabinet boasts more wins too. She was part of the gold-winning Indian team at the 2017 Women’s Asia Cup in Kakamigahara and the bronze at the 2022 edition in Muscat. Plus, she helped clinch silver at the 2018 Asian Champions Trophy in Donghae, followed by back-to-back golds in 2023 at Ranchi and 2024 at Rajgir.
Reflecting on her big achievement, Navneet shared her excitement: “It’s a very special moment in my career. It has been an amazing ride ever since I made my debut in 2014. The last decade has been full of learning experiences. Each tournament has taught me something new, and I feel grateful to my family, teammates, coaches, and the fans for their support throughout. Wearing the India jersey is a privilege I cherish every single day, and milestones like these remind me of how grateful I am. I will continue to give my best and hope to inspire more young girls to take up hockey.”
Hockey India President Dr. Dilip Tirkey praised her dedication: “Playing 200 matches for India is a mark of both excellence and endurance. Navneet has been an integral part of the Indian Women’s Team’s rise in recent years. She has scored crucial goals, shown great consistency, and been a role model for the younger players coming into the team. We are extremely proud of her milestone and wish her many more successes in her career.”
Hockey India Secretary General Bhola Nath Singh added, “Navneet Kaur’s journey is an inspiration for every young girl who dreams of playing hockey for India. Achieving 200 caps at the highest level requires tremendous hard work and commitment. Hockey India congratulates her on this remarkable achievement and looks forward to her continued contributions to the team’s success.”
With her consistent performances and inspiring story, Navneet Kaur continues to motivate the next generation of Indian hockey players.
