In Colombo on Sunday, the Indian women’s cricket team continued their perfect World‑Cup record against Pakistan, winning a close match that kept India’s 5‑0 streak alive. The Indians batted first and set 247 runs, then bowled Pakistan out for just 159 in 43 overs.

Kranti Gaud made headlines with a concise three‑over spell, taking 3 for 20. The fast‑bowler said she ignored the intense India‑Pakistan rivalry chatter and focused on bowling her best. “I don’t pay attention to the rivalry talk,” Gaud told reporters. “I just bowl my job.” Her teammates agreed that the coaching staff wanted her to keep the same line and length that has been working so well.

The match’s turning point came early when Gaud burst in the first 12 overs, taking a wicket and leaving Pakistan at 26 for 3. The Pakistan batters were left aiming for a 250‑run chase. Sidra Amin, Pakistan’s star batter, had a memorable historic innings of 81 in 106 balls, yet it came too late. She shared a 69‑run partnership with Natalia Pervaiz, then a 41‑run stand with Sidra Nawaz, but the Indian bowlers dug in hard.

Deepti Sharma, India’s leading spinner, also sprang into action. She took 3 for 45, contributing to a total of five spinners’ wickets in the match. Sneh Rana chipped in with 2 for 38, and the Pakistani fast bowlers, led by Diana Baig’s 4 for 69, could not stop the Indian attack.

India’s women set a 5‑0 World‑Cup record against Pakistan and a 12‑0 win‑record in women’s ODI history against them. The win follows a clean sweep in the men’s matches at the Asia Cup, where both teams faced off in three games, ending in a clean sweep for India.

With the win, India’s women maintain their record and continue their march in the ICC Women World Cup. The focus of the players remains on their performance without the added pressure of the historic rivalry — especially after recent political tensions. Kranti Gaud’s statement highlighted the team’s dedication: “Just focus on the bowling.” This mindset helped India secure victory in a high‑pressure international game.

For cricket fans, this match shows how a sharp bowling attack and disciplined batting can carry a team through a fierce rivalry. The India women’s squad remains in strong form and looks set to carry its momentum into the next round of the World Cup.
