Punjab Kings all-rounder Shashank Singh has nothing but praise for the team’s co-owner, Bollywood star Preity Zinta, especially for her incredible support during the IPL 2025 season. As a constant presence in the stands, Zinta cheers on the Punjab Kings through every twist and turn, and Shashank says her encouragement means the world to the players.
In an exclusive chat with , the 33-year-old from Chhattisgarh opened up about his bond with Zinta. “I’m really close to her personally,” Shashank shared. “Chatting with her is always fun. When I joined the team in 2024, I was a bit shy, but now we talk casually, and I love every conversation.”
What really boosted his respect for her happened during a chaotic moment in IPL 2025. The 58th match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals at Dharamsala’s HPCA Stadium got called off midway due to a tense, war-like situation in the country. Players and fans were rushed out amid a blackout—everyone was scared and unsure.
“We were pulled off the field, handed our phones, and told to head straight to the hotel,” Shashank recalled. “It was scary; you don’t see something like that every day.”
That’s when Zinta stepped up big time. She stayed up all night, working tirelessly to get both teams safely to Delhi by train—something unusual for IPL travel. Shashank highlighted how she personally oversaw everything, from talking to drivers and packing food to ensuring kit bags were handled right. Even with management teams from both franchises on hand, Zinta went the extra mile for players and staff from Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals alike.
“She’s a huge celebrity, but she handled the smallest details like a pro,” he said. “She stayed in touch with us until we got home, when the tournament paused. That day, my respect for Preity ma’am tripled. She has that army officer spirit in her blood—it’s clear. She truly deserves all the applause.”
Shashank, a key middle-order batter for Punjab Kings, last played in the IPL 2025 final at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. There, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) grabbed their maiden IPL title, making it a historic night for the league. Stories like Zinta’s dedication show why fans love the IPL’s mix of cricket and star power.
