Puneri Paltan have sealed a spot in the top‑eight of Pro Kabaddi League season 12 after a decisive 36‑23 win over the Tamil Thalaivas. The match, played at Thyagaraj Indoor Stadium in New Delhi on Saturday night, saw the Pune club keep a perfect hold from start to finish.
Raider Pankaj Mohite led the charge with 9 points, while Aslam Inamdar added 7 points of his own. Gurdeep High Five also hit the mark in the back‑up, giving the defense a solid backbone. The win was a testament to the team’s discipline and teamwork, praised by head coach Ajay Thakur. “Every player—from Vishal and Gaurav Khatri to Aslam—contributed to the rhythm and control. If we keep playing like this, there’s nothing to worry about,” Thakur said, according to the PKL press release.
Coach Thakur singled out Captain Aslam Inamdar for his leadership. “Captaincy isn’t just about leading from the front—it’s about showing the way. Aslam reads the situation well and lets teammates take responsibility on the mat,” he added. Inamdar echoed the sentiment, crediting Thakur for building an environment of trust and accountability. “Our coach is a legend. He always says it’s our job to make the right calls on the mat because we understand the situation best. That gives us confidence and freedom,” the skipper said.
With the top‑eight berth now locked in, Puneri Paltan turn their eyes to the next big test against Dabang Delhi. Coach Thakur acknowledged the opponent’s depth, noting that “they have strong raiders like Ashu and Neeraj Narwal.” Yet he was optimistic, saying, “Our young players have shown great composure, and if we stay united, we can keep riding our winning momentum.” ()
