Shubhankar Sharma’s surge put Indian fans on a high at the DP World India Championship in Delhi.
In the second round of the $4 million tournament at the Delhi Golf Club, the two‑time DP World Tour champion shot a bogey‑free 66, finishing tied for 32nd overall and the highest‑placed Indian at four‑under 140.
The day also highlighted another Indian lead‑up: PGTI champion Dhruv Sheoran posted a 68‑73 round, finishing tied for 41st. Shiv Kapur (72‑69) and Anirban Lahiri (70‑71) matched that, while Abhinav Lohan (70‑72) was the last Indian to make the cut with a two‑under 142 finish.

Top international players dominated the leaderboard. Tommy Fleetwood (68‑64) secured the halfway lead at 12‑under with a 64 on the second day. Former Open champions Brian Harman (68‑65) and Shane Lowry (64‑69) were tied for second at 11‑under. Rory McIlroy, world No. 2 and reigning Masters champion, closed the day in a tie for 17th at six‑under 138.

A total of 66 golfers made the cut, set at two‑under 142 after 36 holes.

### Shubhankar’s Return to Form

Shubhankar started the round tied 99th with a 74, but he turned things around on Friday. He bided his time on all four par‑5s and landed birdie putts from 15 to 18 feet. “I felt a lot fresher in today’s afternoon session,” he explained. “I hit well, putted well, and my mind was clearer.”

The Indian star shared details of his recent equipment changes that have paid off. “The last six months were tough, but in the past two weeks I’ve found my form. I finally got the right combo of club, shaft, and ball after a few tweaks,” he said.

### Dhruv Sheoran Keeps the Momentum

Sheoran, who had opened the tournament tied seventh with a 68, managed a 73 in the second round. He birdied three holes but also faced four bogeys. He survived a tense finish on the 18th after a mis‑hit tee shot, pulling out of a bunker for an up‑and‑down and converting a 15‑foot bogey putt to keep his weekend hopes alive.

“I went into the changeroom after the first nine holes feeling the momentum slip,” Sheoran said. “I washed my face, looked at myself in the mirror, and vowed I couldn’t let it go on. New determination came after I left the room.”

The DP World India Championship continues to shine a spotlight on Indian talent while drawing world‑class stars. With strong performances from Sharma, Sheoran, Kapur and Lahiri, Indian golfers are proving they can hold their own on an international stage.
