Manila, Oct 22 – 11‑time Asian Tour champion Gaganjeet Bhullar is looking to give his game a physical and mental makeover before the International Series Philippines, just three weeks after a tough finish in Indonesia.
In Jakarta, Bhullar was tied for the lead coming into the final round of the Jakarta International Championship, one of nine high‑value Asian Tour stops that feed into LIV Golf through a season‑long ranking race. In the final round, he finished 19th after a four‑over day, while Wade Ormsby, the 2023 International Series Thailand champion, edged out Zimbabwe’s Scott Vincent to win the event.
Vincent now tops the rankings, giving him the first spot in next season’s LIV Golf roster. Ormsby moves into third, and Bhullar falls to 35th. He needs strong finishes in the next four tournaments to climb back into the top positions.
Bhullar said the year has been “really good.” He added, “I’ve been striking the ball well and staying consistent. Winner in Jakarta, but Wade played brilliantly over the final stretch. I’ve been working hard on my mental game – focusing, visualising, meditating – and I feel both mentally and physically in a great place.”
The upcoming Philippine event will feature a stacked field that includes former world No. 1 Dustin Johnson, major champions Patrick Reed, Charl Schwartzel and Louis Oosthuizen, plus another 11 LIV Golf stars. Bhullar said, “The approach is always the same – 72 holes, make more birdies, fewer bogeys. It’s fantastic to see such a strong field. Having these superstars here supports what the International Series has been striving for, and it’s great for the growth of golf in Asia.”
Other Indian golfers in the field this week include Rayhan Thomas, SSP Chawrasia, Ajeetesh Sandhu and Karandeep Khochhar.
