Exciting Medals and Anthem Unveiled for New Delhi 2025 World Para Athletics Championships

India is gearing up for its biggest para-sports event ever! The Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) unveiled the stunning medals for the World Para Athletics Championships on Thursday. This historic tournament kicks off in New Delhi from September 27 to October 5, 2025, bringing together over 2,200 para-athletes and support staff from 104 countries. They’ll compete in a whopping 186 medal events at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, marking India’s first major para-athletics extravaganza.

These medals beautifully capture the spirit of para-sports, Indian culture, and athletic triumphs. Flip to the front, and you’ll see intricate designs from traditional Indian art. At the center, the championship’s name shines alongside icons like a wheelchair racer, a discus thrower, and the sacred lotus—India’s national flower. The back side emphasizes inclusivity with Braille text above "New Delhi 2025," a lotus pattern, and sleek modern geometric shapes. Tied with a vibrant blue ribbon, each medal symbolizes culture, accessibility, and pure achievement.

Adding to the buzz, the event launched an energetic anthem called "Udaan Bhar." This upbeat track mixes rap vibes and features Indian para-athletes showing off their skills in a video produced by Polaris Production and PCI. It perfectly highlights the resilience and inspiration that define the para-sports world.

PCI President Devendra Jhajharia couldn’t hide his excitement: "Unveiling these medals starts a historic journey. They honor not just wins, but the hard work, inclusivity, and grit behind them. With athletes from 104 countries, New Delhi will host a world-class show that inspires everyone."

Paul Fitzgerald, Head of World Para Athletics, added his thoughts: "We’re thrilled this is the first big championship in the lead-up to Los Angeles 2028, right here in New Delhi. It’s India’s largest international para-sport event yet. These medals blend Indian traditions with athletic symbols and accessibility, showing real commitment to inclusivity and pride. This is a huge chance to grow para-athletics, attract more fans, and change how society views people with disabilities in the world’s most populous country. India’s rise in para-athletics over the past decade is truly motivating, and we can’t wait to welcome the world’s top talents."

Vanathi Srinivasan, MLA and Chief Patron of PCI, shared: "These medals tell tales of courage and never-giving-up spirit. India opens its arms to the world, promising top-notch accessibility, inclusivity, and excellence. This championship sends a strong message—para-athletes are making history."

Paralympic gold medalist Navdeep Singh said: "Looking at this medal fires me up to push harder. Winning one on home soil would be a dream for every para-athlete, proving disability is no barrier."

India’s Paralympic high jump gold medalist Praveen Kumar echoed the pride: "Being here for the unveiling fills me with motivation. These medals stand for every para-athlete’s path—the struggles, the bounce-back, and the big wins. Competing at home with this symbol will be special and drive me to go further."

The ceremony drew PCI officials, athletes, and media, officially starting the countdown to the big event. From September 27 to October 5, New Delhi will light up with global talent, unbreakable spirit, and sporting magic— a one-of-a-kind celebration of inclusivity and excellence in India’s sports story.
