Exciting times for cricket fans as the Indian Street Premier League (ISPL), India’s trailblazing tennis-ball T10 tournament, gears up for its third season. After two smash-hit years, the league comes back bigger and bolder, running from January 9 to February 6, 2025, in Surat.
This time, eight teams will battle it out, including two fresh additions: Ahmedabad, owned by Bollywood star Ajay Devgn, and Delhi, backed by Salman Khan. The stakes just got higher too—the Most Valuable Player (MVP) walks away with a sleek Porsche 911, proving how ISPL is stepping up to rival top global sports leagues.
At a lively press conference, cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and other key figures like Ashish Shelar, Minal Amol Kale, League Commissioner Suraj Samat, and President of League Operations Dipak Chauhan shared the big reveals. Ajay Devgn joined them, hyping up his new Ahmedabad squad.
ISPL kicked off in 2024 and quickly became a hit. Viewership and crowd turnout soared in each of the first two seasons, turning young players into national sensations. Stars like Abhishek Dalhor, Sagar Ali, Rajat Mundhe, Ketan Mhatre, Jagannath Sarkar, and Fardeen Kazi stole the show and became household names in Indian cricket.
Season 3 ramps things up with expanded squads of 18 players per team, including at least two under-19 talents to spotlight emerging stars. Franchises now have a bigger budget—up 50% to Rs 1.5 crore—to build powerhouse lineups. Trials kick off October 5 across 101 cities, and they’ve already hit over 4.3 million player registrations, giving thousands of dreamers a shot at glory. The official group draws are out, promising intense matches and non-stop action.
Looking ahead, Ashish Shelar unveiled plans for a Zonal Institution and selection tournament ahead of Season 4. This smart setup will scout and develop talent from every region, boosting grassroots cricket across India.
Sachin Tendulkar called ISPL more than a league—it’s a movement reshaping how India spots and grows cricket talent. “With Season 3, we’re expanding opportunities for players on a national stage and strengthening grassroots cricket,” he said.
Ashish Shelar echoed that, praising the new Surat venue for spreading cricket’s passion beyond big cities. “The Zonal Institutional Model builds a solid system for grassroots development, benefiting all of Indian cricket,” he added.
Minal Amol Kale highlighted the league’s barrier-breaking vibe. “Season 3 is our boldest yet, empowering communities and turning local playgrounds into national spotlights,” she shared.
League Commissioner Suraj Samat drew inspiration from history, like Ravi Shastri’s 1985 Audi win. “The Porsche 911 MVP prize tells players to dream big—passion and hard work can lead to world-class rewards in ISPL.”
Ajay Devgn, pumped for his Ahmedabad team, said cricket unites people, just like movies do in his hometown. “I’m excited to uncover new heroes and see lives change through this sport in Season 3.”
The event also premiered the documentary “Rise of ISPL,” tracing the league’s journey from street games to packed stadiums.
ISPL’s owner lineup reads like a who’s who of stars: Amitabh Bachchan for Majhi Mumbai, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan for Tiigers of Kolkata, Akshay Kumar for Srinagar Ke Veer, Suriya for Chennai Singams, Hrithik Roshan for Bangalore Strikers, and Ram Charan for Falcon Risers Hyderabad. With Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn now on board, the star power is off the charts.
If you’re into fast-paced T10 cricket or grassroots stories, ISPL Season 3 in Surat looks set to deliver thrills and inspire the next generation of Indian cricket talents.
