Mumbai, September 6 — Exciting cricket action is on the way as India A prepares to face Australia A in a series of multi-day matches. Led by captain Shreyas Iyer, the team will kick off the first game on September 16 at the BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, with the second match starting on September 23.
Shreyas Iyer, a talented right-handed batter, is currently playing in the Duleep Trophy semi-final for West Zone. He missed out on joining the Indian team for the upcoming Men’s T20 Asia Cup in the UAE starting September 9 but is now taking charge of the India A squad for this important series.
The team features a mix of experienced players and exciting newcomers. Alongside Iyer are Nitish Kumar Reddy, Abhimanyu Easwaran, N Jagadeesan, Sai Sudharsan, Dhruv Jurel, Prasidh Krishna, Khaleel Ahmed, and Devdutt Padikkal. Reddy, who had been recovering from a left knee ligament injury at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, is back in action.
The BCCI announced that senior opener KL Rahul and fast bowler Mohammed Siraj will join the squad for the second multi-day match. They will replace two players after the first game to ensure the team is well-balanced.
New players stepping into the India A squad include Harsh Dubey, Ayush Badoni, Tanush Kotian, Gurnoor Brar, Manav Suthar, and Yash Thakur. While Dubey, Kotian, and Suthar have played before for India A, this is the first time Badoni, Brar, and Thakur will be part of the line-up.
After the multi-day matches, fans can look forward to three one-day games scheduled for September 30, October 3, and October 5 at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. These matches are sure to showcase emerging talents and intense cricket action.
